What it is
Moissanite is silicon carbide, originally found in a meteorite and now grown in a lab. At 9.25 on the Mohs scale it is exceptionally durable — second only to diamond — so it stands up to everyday wear.
Who it's for
If you love sparkle and want a large look for a modest budget, moissanite is ideal — it throws more colourful fire than a diamond. If you specifically want a diamond's restrained brilliance or its resale value, choose a lab-grown or natural diamond instead.
